Around 33,000 people crossed the bridge earlier today at the Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk under blue skies, mild temperatures and tight security.
Several law enforcement and first responder agencies, along with Mackinac Bridge Authority personnel, all worked together to make sure it was a safe and secure event.
Law enforcement just didn't patrol the bridge itself, but also the waterway under and the airspace above it.
There was a temporary flight restriction (TFR) issued Sunday, in advance of the walk, until early afternoon today. The waterway under and around the bridge was patrolled by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and other law enforcement agencies. No vessel traffic was allowed under the bridge unless prior approval was given by the USCG.
