OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma State Representative Ty Burns, R-Pawnee, will continue to serve in his current position until October 1, after handing in his resignation letter Saturday.
He sent the letter to Governor Kevin Stitt, saying “it is in the best interest of the people I serve in House District 35, and most importantly, my family, to step down from my position.
Burns has been a House Representative since 2018. Last week, he pled guilty to three counts of domestic abuse and assault from two separate incidents. One from April where he reportedly ran his daughter and another family member off the road, threatening to kill one of them. In a second incident from November of 2024, Burns allegedly tried to gouge his wife’s eye out following an argument.
