TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - It’s the last busy weekend for Mount Lemmon before the desert begins to cool down.

Without extra rainfall, it looks like water restrictions are sticking around, even with almost half a million gallons of it being untouched because it is dedicated to fire response.

“Once this weekend hits, then our water level gets a little bit of a relief,” said Mount Lemmon Water Improvement District Boardmember Mitch Cusolito. “If it rains, we get a bit more water stored up.”

The Stage 3 water restrictions limit each home and business to 2,400 gallons of water per day. The amount of water waiting to be used for a fire is the equivalent of more than 200 houses.
