HELENA — Frontier Conference football is off and running. While divisional play doesn’t begin until October, fans are already being treated to top-25-ranked matchups.

Every game matters for gridiron teams with NAIA Football Championship Series aspirations.

Here are five things we learned from Week 1:

Quarterback Clarity

Nine different Frontier signal-callers (for eight teams) debuted last week, replacing veteran starters.

Bozeman High graduate Jake Casagranda and Polson product Jarrett Wilson tag-teamed No. 5-ranked Montana Western Thursday, taking over for record-setting quarterback Blake Thelen.

Casagranda finished 5-for-8 for 83 yards, Wilson completing seven passes for 77 yards and his first career touchdown to Nick Michelotti. Wilson also rushed nine times for 27 yards.
