LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A 12-year-old girl was killed and her mother and sibling were injured early Monday in a rollover crash on the Gene Snyder near New Cut Road that police say was caused by a drunk driver.

Louisville Metro Police said officers responded around 2:30 a.m. Monday after a Dodge Durango struck a Jeep, causing it to overturn.

The impact threw 31-year-old Jasmine Simpson and her two children from the Jeep. Simpson and one child were rushed to the hospital. The young girl died at the scene.

Police arrested 34-year-old Renaldo James Gill at the scene. According to a police citation, officers noted the odor of alcohol, glassy eyes, and unsteadiness on his feet.

Gill faces charges including murder and driving under the influence with a suspended license.
