Detroit — The changing dynamics of the labor movement are being felt in Detroit's mayoral race, where divisions in union endorsements might be helping front-runner and City Council President Mary Sheffield against the Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr., despite his official support from the powerful United Auto Workers union.

Sheffield has gotten endorsements from 10 unions, including the Service Employees International Union, the Teamsters Joint Council #43 and the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council. The latest endorsement was from the Detroit Fire Fighters Association Local 344.
