WASHINGTON — The Powerball is steadily approaching the largest prize in the game's history, rising to $1.3 billion after nobody won the jackpot Monday night.

Monday's drawing was for an estimated 1.2 billion prize, or a $544.1 million cash payout. And although nobody won big, there are a lot of new millionaires.

Tickets sold in California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, a pair in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia all won $1 million off of Monday's drawing.

Two additional tickets, sold in Montana and North Carolina, each won $2 million for buying the more expensive Power Play option.

Now, the Powerball is climbing again before the Wednesday drawing. The next drawing will be worth an estimated $1.3 billion, with a lump sum payout of $589 million.
