PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a busy time for wildland firefighters as they tackle numerous wildfires across the state. With monsoon activity back in the forecast, the threat for wildfires comes with it.

“This is kind of par for the course and we do plan for this because we do know that as soon as we start seeing the weather pattern come in that it would include dry lightning or more lightning than rain,” said Dolores Garcia, a spokesperson with the Bureau of Land Management .

In general, Garcia said most wildfires across the country are sparked by people. “Nine out of 10 wildfires on average are started by humans,” said Garcia.

The other culprit is lightning, sometimes from monsoon storms. “There’s a lot of times where we get lightning strikes, more lightning than we do actual rain, and
