Itruly wish that dogs never had to experience the heartbreak of being abandoned.

Sadly, Stanford, a Pit Bull mix, knew that pain all too well when his family dumped him at a park and walked away for good.

Thankfully, a compassionate family found him and reached out to Rockdale County Animal Shelter in Georgia, where the staff welcomed him in.

The family couldn’t forget the sweet pup. After falling in love with him, they returned to the shelter and even filled out an adoption application. They stopped by his kennel to see him again, kissing him goodbye and promising they’d be back to take him home.

For the first time in a while, Stanford’s heart swelled with hope. But soon, that hope was shattered.
