The 15th Annual Run on Tuna begins September 1 and runs through September 30, aiming to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada during Hunger Action Month.

The campaign has collected and donated more than 265,000 cans of tuna. Organizers Michelle Sturge and De De Rosene said they are confident this year’s effort will surpass the 10,000-can goal and push the overall total closer to 300,000 cans.

Jocelyn Lantrip, marketing director for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, said the donations are vital for local families. “The generosity behind this effort continues to inspire us. With more than 160,000 people turning to us each month, the need is still tremendous, and donations of protein like tuna have a powerful impact on the families we serve,” she said.
