TEMPE, Ariz. — Multiple people were injured in Tempe when the Mustang they were in was reportedly racing and then crashed, according to authorities.
The Tempe Police Department said five people were ejected from the Mustang Monday night when it crashed near Rio Salado Parkway and Scottsdale Road.
The vehicle was reportedly racing a motorcycle, police said.
The rider of the motorcycle returned to the scene, according to police.
The crash happened when the car failed to negotiate a turn.
Police said those involved have been hospitalized with critical injuries.

Rio Salado Parkway is closed westbound east of Rural Road.
