Texas Democrats recently went back to Austin to continue the fight against the Republicans’ undemocratic, gerrymandered congressional map on the Capitol floor. Unsurprisingly, Lubbock’s very own House Speaker Dustin Burrows pushed through The Gerrymander Bill before taking up anything that would actually help people, like flood relief, the STAAR test issue, or literally any other pressing matter.

As if we needed more proof that their priorities are out of whack, this further demonstrates that the Texas Republican Party cares more about the admiration of the President and his billionaire friends than the people of Texas. Meanwhile, our own state representatives continue to do nothing for West Texas farmers, families and workers.
