Motorists traveling on Shasta County and other highways in the Shasta Cascade region may face time delays during Labor Day weekend and next week, according to the California Department of Transportation District 2.

Caltrans issued an announcement advising travelers to check road conditions and allow extra time for potential delays due to construction and maintenance work.

Highway 89: The section near McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in Shasta County historically has slow traffic flow during holiday weekends. Caltrans encouraged drivers to take alternative routes, plan for delays or call ahead if visiting the park.
