SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A wet and unsettled weather pattern is affecting much of Florida this week. A weak area of low pressure near the Space Coast will slowly drift out to sea in the Atlantic. As it moves away our winds become lighter due to a decreasing pressure gradient. With temperatures each day near 90, sea breezes will form and move inland. This will likely trigger storms as the moisture content of the air is high.
While strong storms are still unlikely, the abundant moisture in place could lead to pockets of locally heavy rain, especially in inland locations on the Suncoast. In fact, the Weather Prediction Center has placed much of the southern half of the state under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall.
