EVANSVILLE – If you would have asked anyone in mid-July, they would have said Evansville is experiencing an abnormally rainy summer.

And they're would have been right. Between the start of June and July 19, the city saw about 13 inches of rain – well above the usual amount, and downright monotonous when added into the ludicrous total that inundated the Tri-State in the spring.

But now, as it loves to do in Indiana, the weather has done a 180.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor maintained by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Vanderburgh County is in the "abnormally dry" range – one step away from a moderate drought.
