Gunfire and a stabbing marred the end of the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn on Monday night, leaving at least eight people injured after a day of celebration.
Police said seven people were shot in four separate incidents between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. along or near Eastern Parkway, the route of the annual parade.
Victims included a 14-year-old boy, a man in his 20s, a woman in her 40s and several others. All were reported in stable condition.
In the most serious shooting, a 53-year-old man was struck in the neck and leg, and a 40-year-old man was shot in the ankle near Nostrand Avenue and Sterling Street, according to the NYPD. A person of interest was taken into custody.
