Sunshine and blue skies this week is expected to welcome students back to school as the mild weather continues.
Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s and 60s with a light breeze is forecast for most of Nassau and Suffolk counties, where thousands of schoolchildren and educators will return to classrooms beginning Tuesday.
"Anyone who has an outdoor activity should be good with these temperatures that are seasonable or just a degree or two below seasonal," said Bryan Ramsey, a metrologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.
