(Gray News) – Actor Graham Greene, who was best known for his role in the film “Dances with Wolves,” has died, according to reports.

He was 73.

The Oscar nominee died Sept. 1 at a hospital in Toronto, according to Deadline , who was first to report Greene’s death.

Greene’s agent, Michael Greene, confirmed with People that he died “after a lengthy illness.”

“He was a great man of morals, ethics and character and will be eternally missed,” Greene’s agent said in a statement to both People and Deadline. “You are finally free.”

Born on June 22, 1952, Greene worked odd jobs before trying his hand at acting. He made his on-screen debut in 1979 in an episode of “The Great Detective” and was in his first movie in 1983 with “Running Brave.”
