Firefighters rescued a man who fell down a Mackinac Island cliff on Sunday, officials said.

First responders were dispatched at about 1:57 p.m. for a report of a man who fell down a cliff wth a possible broken arm, they said. Dispatchers informed firefighters en route that the man was slipping and would likely be unable to hold on for much longer, according to a Facebook post by the Mackinac Island Fire Department on Sunday.

Officials said one squad of firefighters arrived at the top of the cliff to lower a rescue line to the man, and another was at the bottom to try to reach him from the road.

Firefighters were able to reach the man with a ladder from the road, they said. A firefighter climbed the ladder and brought the victim down, according to authorities.
