Outlander star Laura Donnelly has been announced in the lead role in ITV’s upcoming six-part series , The Dark. The drama is based on GR Halliday’s debut novel, From the Shadows, and filming kicks off today (Tuesday) in Glasgow. ‌

The line-up includes Laura as Scottish Detective Monica Kennedy and Trigger Point 's Mark Rowley as Detective Connor Crawford. ‌

Emun Elliott plays local Barclay Adams, with Helen Baxendale as Bethany, parents who are scarred by their past and aren’t pleased to see Detective Monica at their door again with a case linked to their missing son. ‌

Rona Morrison, Cal MacAninch, Stella Gonet, Phil McKee, Tunji Kasim, Nancy Drew and Catherine McCormack are also set to join the cast sheet.
