Aston Villa’s Director of Football Operations, Damian Vidagany, has lifted the lid on what was an incredibly challenging summer transfer window.

Unai Emery welcomed five new signings into his first-team squad, three of whom arrived on deadline day.

Marco Bizot and Evann Guessand joined in July , while Victor Lindelöf, Jadon Sancho, and Harvey Elliott all signed on Monday.

Lindelöf arrived on a free transfer, Sancho joined on loan from Manchester United, and Elliott is also classified as a loanee - though Villa agreed to a £35 million obligation-to-buy clause for the 22-year-old.

Villa were restricted throughout the window by Premier League and UEFA financial regulations but managed to retain key players such as Boubacar Kamara, Ollie Watkins, Youri Tielemans, and Morgan Rogers,
