What a difference a year makes.

A storm bringing rain and hail knocked out power in municipalities southwest of Thunder Bay a day before the Hymers Fall Fair last year, but it was nothing but clear, blue skies this Labour Day weekend for the fair that has been around since 1912.

Although last year was an anomaly for the event, Hymers Agricultural Society president Laura Loan said Mother Nature co-operated this time and usually does for the fair.

"We always seem to be blessed with great weather on this weekend," said Loan, who is in her first year as president of the organization.

"It was warm, that's for sure. It was very successful."

Almost 4,000 fairgoers came through the gates on Sunday and Loan figured more than that amount came through on Labour Day Monday to put the attendance n
