A homicide investigation is underway after a 12-year-old boy and his mother were found dead in a Hazel Park home Monday, Sept. 1.

Hazel Park police were called about 4:15 p.m. to a home for an unresponsive woman, Hazel Park police said in a news release on social media.

They found the 12-year-old boy and a 41-year-old woman , both of Hazel Park, dead with injuries from apparent trauma. The pair were a mother and son, the latter of whom attended Hazel Park Schools, according to a letter from the district that was posted on the city’s Facebook page.
