INDIANAPOLIS — A 50-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting on Indy's northeast side Monday night.

According to IMPD, around 11 p.m. Sept. 1, officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 10100 block of Montery Road , near North Mitthoefer Road and 42nd Street.

When officers arrived on scene, they said they found a person shot. The victim was reported to be "awake and breathing."

Police believe this incident started as a "disturbance" between people who knew each other.

IMPD said detectives identified a 50-year-old man as the alleged shooter in this case.

The male suspect was arrested and preliminarily charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
