(CNN) – Authorities in Texas have charged a 42-year-old man with murder after a “ding dong ditch” shooting left an 11-year-old Houston boy dead Saturday.

Witnesses told officers the boy was ringing doorbells of homes and running away.

Police booked 42-year-old Leon Gonzalo Jr. into jail Tuesday morning.

His address matches the one where someone fatally opened fire at the 11-year-old.

A witness told police the boy was running away from the house when he was shot.
