EVENT SPOTLIGHT: Savannah Rep debuts Savannah Musical Theatre Festival

The first-ever Savannah Musical Theatre Festival debuts Sept. 5-7 in the Ben Tucker Theatre at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center. Local and visiting performers will stage readings from four new works and sing from their original scores. Audiences then can participate in workshops to provide feedback to the playwrights, composers and performers. The players from Front Porch Improv will serve as a warm-up act with “Spontaneous! The Musical,” where storyline, characters, music, lyrics and choreography are derived from audience suggestions.
