BRUNSWICK, Ohio --- With the city’s most recent update of its Parks Master Plan calling for more baseball and softball field facilities, Brunswick City Council has approved the purchase of two parcels of property adjacent to other city-owned property at North Carpenter and Grafton roads.

“We had the opportunity to acquire some property and this will be the first new park we have had in 22 years,” said Council President Nick Hanek (Ward 2) of the $212,500 and $387,500 purchases of the parcels, totaling just over 7 acres.

Hanek noted that two fields and adequate parking that will not have an adverse effect on the adjacent neighborhood is also part of the plan.

“Hopefully we will be putting together a really nice complex,” he said.
