A driver is dead after their car flipped over multiple times in the back country of northwest of Colorado Springs during the night, according to police.

The car's passenger walked away from the crash around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday and waved down help from a passing vehicle to call police, a blotter entry from the Colorado Springs Police Department stated. The car had reportedly rolled off Rampart Range Road.

Starting at Garden of the Gods, the almost 60-mile roadway winds its way through the Rampart Range until it ends on Colorado 67 between Sedalia and Deckers.

Officers went to the area and searched for the crash, finding it near mile marker 4 by Garden of the Gods. The driver's body was recovered, and the Police Department's Major Crash Team has begun an investigation.
