Seth Rogen was seen snapping pictures with a portable camera as Benny Safdie began the rollout for his solo directorial debut , The Smashing Machine , yesterday in Venice.

The veteran comedian has now confirmed in a short interview that his unannounced appearance was part of his summer research for the second season of his hit industry comedy The Studio .

Rogen told Italian website Adnkronos that he was at the festival “scouting locations” for The Studio season two. Rogen didn’t confirm whether he will be present during any further festivities in Venice or whether he will pop up at any other fall festivals like TIFF. His reps didn’t immediately respond to Deadline’s request for comment.
