THE SCOOP It is not unusual for East Hills residents, during a lifetime, to move from a starter home, to a larger step-up home, and then a smaller home for retirement all within the village boundaries, real estate agents said.

It is because of the village's exclusive perks for its residents, its proximity to great restaurants and shopping in neighboring communities and living within the Roslyn School District boundaries.

"People move within the community," said Melanie Cogan, an agent with Compass NY who has sold in the area for 18 years. "A good chunk of my business is moving people from house to house. I could do three moves in one transaction."
