This Day in History: End of World War II becomes official on Sept. 2, 1945

U.S. General Douglas MacArthur and Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz officiated the ceremony on board the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay that ended World War II. It came nearly a month after the atomic bomb strikes on Japan.
