SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah Mayor Van Johnson said Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer for a second time and has undergone treatment.

He said he was originally treated for prostate cancer in 2021 and believed it had been successful.

“I was diagnosed again for prostate cancer,” said Mayor Johnson this week.

He said he found out when he got tested earlier this year

“This is very very serious to me, personally,” said Mayor Johnson.

He says since his most recent diagnosis, he has received treatment. The mayor found out about his diagnosis through a PSA test .

“I have not missed a beat, I’m still Savannah strong,” said Mayor Johnson.
