Michigan drivers were paying an average of $3.39 per gallon for regular unleaded last week but prices are expected to decline.

“Refinery issues in Whiting, Indiana led Michigan to a new 2025-high ahead of Labor Day weekend,” Adrienne Woodland, a spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group said, in a news release. “As the refinery gets back online, Michigan motorists may see some relief at the pump.”

As of Tuesday, Michigan drivers were paying an average of $3.30 per gallon for regular unleaded.

According to AAA this price is 15 cents more than this time last month but 7 cents less than this time last year.

Those looking to fill a 15-gallon tank were paying an average of $49; a discount of about $8 from 2024’s highest price last July.
