SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has identified the officers who shot and killed a man in the city's east side on Friday after authorities said he pointed a gun at the officers.

According to SAPD, the suspect, who has been identified as 41-year-old Jaime Gonzalez, was driving erratically through a neighborhood just east of downtown before stopping in front of his home on the 800 block of North Cherry Street.

Police said Gonzalez then exited his vehicle, entered the home to grab a shotgun and returned outside where he began to discharge rounds into the air.

When officers arrived at the residence, police said Gonzalez pointed the shotgun in their direction. According to officials, five officers responded by firing their weapons, striking the suspect.
