LATHROP, Calif. —
Food truck workers at Lathrop Food Plaza are struggling to stay cool as triple-digit temperatures turn their trucks into ovens on wheels.
"The heat plays a major factor in our work. It's really hot in her," said Medhat Mahgouh from the Hibachi Teppanyaki Grill food truck.
He explained that while outside temperatures might be around 100 degrees, inside the truck, it can be 20 to 22 degrees hotter.
"We work really, really, really hard. We sweat a lot, to be honest with you," Mahgouh said.
Bikash Sunar from the Everest Tandoori and Curry food truck shared that cooking in a clay oven requires a minimum heat of 300 degrees.
And for other trucks, despite having cold items on the menu, the heat remains a challenge.
