MILLVILLE — A portion of Route 47 is scheduled to be closed and detoured in both directions starting Wednesday until next spring to allow for replacement of a bridge over Menantico Creek, the state Department of Transportation said.

Beginning at 7 a.m., Route 47 will be closed between Schooner Drive and Schooner Landing Road. Access for local traffic will be maintained, the DOT said Tuesday in a news release.

Motorists on Route 47 northbound will be directed to Route 55 northbound, while motorists on Route 47 southbound will be directed left onto Orange Street.

The $11 million, federally funded project will demolish and reconstruct the bridge, and make drainage and pavement improvements, the DOT said. Work is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
