A Kerhonkson man died suddenly when his motorcycle crashed in the woods on Monday, police said.

On the evening of Sep. 1, New York State Police from the Ellenville barracks responded to a motorcycle crash on State Route 209 in the town of Rochester, located in Ulster County. The incident occurred at approximately 6:11 p.m.

According to the initial investigation, a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was heading southbound when it veered off the road for reasons that remain unclear. The vehicle left the western shoulder and entered a wooded area.

The motorcyclist, identified as 58-year-old Timothy Avery was pronounced dead at the scene.
