Around 8:00 am on August 28 and 8:30 am on August 29, 2025, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to two separate reported structure fires. One of the homes was located in Huntsville and the other was located in Port Cunnington, Lake of Bays.

In both cases the occupants of the homes were alerted by a smoke alarm. Once the alarms were activated and the occupants began investigating the cause of the alarm, they noticed smoke and the smell of burning in their homes. Recognizing that a fire may be present in the homes, both households evacuated immediately and called 911. No injuries were reported at either incident.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a light haze of smoke in both homes, but no fire was found. After using thermal imaging cameras to check for hot spots and
