A partnership between a U.S. Department of Defense agency and the state of New Mexico, unveiled Tuesday in Albuquerque by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and other officials, is aimed at pushing the state to the forefront of the emerging quantum technologies field.

The Quantum Frontier Project will be centered at Roadrunner Venture Studios in Albuquerque, where Tuesday’s news conference took place. In addition to the governor, the event featured Joe Altepeter, the Quantum Benchmark Initiative program manager for the Department of Defense’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency — better known as DARPA — and state Economic Development Secretary Rob Black.
