Californians and people nationwide are gearing up for the next Powerball drawing on Wednesday, Sept. 3 in hopes that the mind-boggling jackpot estimated at $1.3 billion could be theirs.

There was no jackpot winner on the draw on Monday, Sept. 1. However, a $1,378,451 million-winning ticket was sold in Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles County, according to the California State Lottery .

If a player wins the jackpot on Wednesday, they’ll have a choice between an annuitized prize estimated at $1.3 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $589 million — both options are before taxes — according to Powerball .

Wednesday’s jackpot is the fifth largest in the Powerball game and the ninth largest among U.S. lottery jackpot games, according to Powerball.
