A Delaware court struck down a 2022 law that barred people younger than 21 from purchasing a handgun and most rifles.

The law also restricted 18- to 21-year-olds from hunting unless they were supervised by a licensed hunter 21 or older.

Prompted by a legal challenge by plaintiffs that included the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association, a Kent County Superior Court judge found that the law, referred to as House Bill 451, conflicted with provisions outlining gun-ownership rights in the state’s constitution.
