ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A 15-year-old Rockford teen was arrested after stealing a car and crashing it into a house on Sunday.
According to Rockford Police, officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement (SCOPE) spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen and attempted a traffic stop around 6:40 p.m.
Police said the car was occupied by three 15-year-old boys. The driver sped away, lost control, and ultimately crashed into an unoccupied house in the 1800 block of Glenwood Avenue.
The driver was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing, no valid driver's license, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
He was taken to the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center.
