Attorneys representing Karen Read in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of the man she was acquitted of killing filed paperwork on Friday seeking to add two of her Los Angeles-based criminal lawyers to the civil defense team.

In filings in Plymouth Superior Court, Read’s lawyers said they are seeking to add attorneys Alan Jackson, Elizabeth Little, and a third lawyer from their firm, Caleb Mason, to the legal lineup.

Out-of-state attorneys who aren’t licensed in Massachusetts must obtain permission from the court to appear on behalf of clients in the Bay State.

Regarding Jackson, Read civil attorney Damon M. Seligson wrote that he had “represented Read in the criminal proceeding based on the same underlying facts at issue in this case for approximately three years.”
