Tempe to vote on controversial events ordinance after safety threat

The Tempe City Council will host virtual meetings for a week after a public safety alert threatened around 75 people in the council chambers on Aug. 28.

The " safety issue " occurred right before a City Council meeting where leaders were expected to rethink their approval of a contentious ordinance, part of which limited gatherings on public property to less than 30 people.
