Sheinelle Jones is returning to the Today show .

On Friday (September 5), Jones is set to make her first appearance on the Today show following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh , earlier this year. Jones' return was announced on Tuesday's (September 2) episode of the show by co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin .

“We’ve got some other great news that we are so excited to share with you, and it involves a member of our own Today family,” Melvin said.

“Yes, our beloved Sheinelle will be returning to the show,” Guthrie added. “She and her family have been through so much after the devastating loss of her husband, Uche.”

Jones was on extended leave after Ojeh died following his battle with glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.
