Premier League clubs may have broken the transfer record for most money spent in a single window - but they can still pick up some bargain stars.

Around £3.1billion was splashed out from the top 20 clubs in the English top-flight - more than the rest of the clubs from the other 'Top Five' leagues combined.

Liverpool broke the British transfer record to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal rising to £116.5m.

And then they shattered their own record after bringing in striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle for £125m on deadline day.

But they were ultimately unable to get Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi over the line , which could see them dip into the free agency market.
