BOSTON (WPRI) — A former United States Postal Service (USPS) inspector accused of stealing more than $330,000 in cash from packages mailed by elderly victims is facing dozens of federal charges, according to prosecutors.

Scott Kelley, 51, of Pembroke, was arrested Friday and charged with five counts of wire fraud, five counts of mail fraud, five counts of mail theft by a postal officer, one count of theft of government money, 23 counts of money laundering, one count of structuring to evade reporting requirements and five counts of filing false tax returns.

Kelley worked as a postal inspector and team leader for Boston USPS's Mail Fraud Unit, which is tasked with investigating scams targeting senior citizens and other vulnerable populations, for more than seven years, according to United
