COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting involving Colorado Springs police on August 22 has been identified by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO).

The sheriff’s office said officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Violent Fugitive Offender Task Force and Tactical Enforcement Unit responded to Branding Iron Circle, near Galley Road and Powers Boulevard, around 2:48 p.m. for a disturbance. EPSO said the suspect was known to law enforcement and wanted for previous crimes.

Deputies said CSPD officers found the suspect in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, and officers positioned their patrol cars around his vehicle to keep the suspect from fleeing.
