The Long Beach community has an opportunity to name its new professional baseball team.

The Long Beach Baseball Club launched a team-naming contest as part of its mission to bring a new era of high-level independent professional baseball to the city. Fans are encouraged to help shape the club’s identity by submitting name ideas through Sept. 12.

As a new independent professional baseball organization, the Long Beach Baseball Club is looking for a name that reflects the people and culture of Long Beach, according to a press release.

While the club has been doing its own market research and has held several focus groups with Long Beach residents, Long Beach Baseball Club officials said they would like to invite community members to be part of the naming process.
