RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Nevada State Board of Education has selected three finalists for the position of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
The names of the three finalists were submitted to Governor Joe Lombardo.
Sylvia Mitchell, Heather Sanchez and Victor Wakefield were all unanimously voted on by the board on Friday.
Lombardo will now review the Board’s recommendations and make a selection.
“We celebrate this momentous step forward for Nevada’s students,” said Dr. Katherine Dockweiler, President of the Nevada State Board of Education. “Each candidate has a unique blend of expertise along with a vision for shaping the future of our education system to ensure Nevada’s students thrive.”
The Board interviewed six candidates during meetings on Thursday and Friday in Las Vegas.
